There’s really no surprise here, is there?

A man who put his life up for auction on eBay found it wasn’t worth quite as much as he thought when he settled for around A$100,000 (48,000 pounds) less than his target price.

No one values human life as muchas they used too, and with the economy tanking like it seems to be doing, my bet is more people will value life less in the future.

He’s lucky he got what he did for his life. The only thing I don’t understand is why he is now going to travel in “search of a new life”. The grass is always greener my friend, and now you don’t even own the lawn you’re standing on.

Wow. A Lizzie Convention. Weeee. No really, that’s cool, don’t you think? I wonder why the queen didn’t show up. That was a might rude don’t you think?

The world’s most famous Elizabeth didn’t show, but about 400 others did.

The northern Illinois community of Elizabeth tried Saturday to set a world record for the largest Gathering of Elizabeths. Women with Elizabeth in any part of their name were allowed in; one participant has Elizabeth as a last name.

Next week, I am looking forward to reading about the Harold convention being held in Harold Square in New York City. Woot!

How disturbing is this?

A fifth human foot has washed ashore in southwestern B.C., and this time it’s a left one.

Police say two people out for a walk spotted a left foot floating in water off Westham Island on Monday morning. Four other feet have washed up on shorelines along islands in B.C. in the last year; all have been right feet wearing socks and shoes.

Const. Sharlene Brooks of the Delta Police said officials are working with the BC Coroner’s office to see if this foot is linked to any other partial remains recovered in the province.

I had no idea that sharks found feet a little bit too crunchy to eat. What else could it be?

The RCMP has said there’s no evidence the feet were severed or removed from the victims’ legs by force.

No evidence they were removed by force? You mean feet just fall off of people in the Great White North? How disturbing is that? I hope they find the cause of this before it starts spreading south.

It always amazes me how resourceful people become when they are faced with a crisis. As a guy, I don’t think I would ever have thought to attach my underwear to an overhead cable as a signal for help. Then again, I probably would have landed on my fat head and not survived the fall anyway.

An American hiker stranded in the Bavarian Alps for nearly three days was rescued after using her sports bra as a signal, police in southern Germany said Monday.

Berchtesgaden police officer Lorenz Rasp said that he helped lift 24-year-old Jessica Bruinsma of Colorado state to safety by helicopter on Thursday after she attracted the attention of lumberjacks by attaching her sports bra to a cable used to move timber down the mountain.

And to think that there was once a time when women wanted to burn their bras. What would those women do if they were ever trapped in the Bavarian Alps? That’s right, the story would not have as happy of an ending, that’s for sure.

Oh. My. Gawd. The poor pooch. I guess it’s going to have to get used to, you know, regular dog food. $2 million won’t last as long as that dog thinks it will.

A New York judge has dramatically reduced the $12 million trust fund the late Leona Helmsley left to her ill-tempered pooch, Trouble.

Surrogate Judge Renee Roth has signed off on a deal that gives $10 million to charity, leaving 9-year-old Trouble with a measly $2 million, The New York Post reported Monday.

What happens if the dog needs more money? Can it come back later and get more money or is it simply off to the shelter for that pooch?

If they hold an election and no one shows up to vote, who wins? Oh sure, it sounds like all of the candidates were running unopposed, but seriously, if no one received a vote, does anyone still win? I didn’t think you could win with a 0.

Pillsbury Mayor Darrel Brudevold said voter turnout in the city’s primary election usually is fairly high.

“I dare say a half-dozen people usually make it to the polls,” he said. That represents about a quarter of the residents in the Barnes County farming community in southeastern North Dakota.

But, on June 10, no-one showed up. Not even those on the ballot.

I wonder if anyone demanded a recount?

I can’t say because I don’t think I would ever be getting a tattoo, but I don’t think I would want t0 be #415 or so after the tattoo artist had been up for 24 hours.

Oliver Peck may be seeing the number 13 in his dreams.

From midnight Thursday to midnight Friday, Peck completed 415 tattoos, applying the unlucky number 13 to scores of arms, legs, ankles, backs, thighs and even some rear ends.

Peck claimed a mention in the Guinness Book of Records for drawing the most tattoos in a 24-hour period.

He was awarded the honor by Guinness adjudicator Danny Girton Jr., according to a report on The Dallas Morning News Web site Saturday.

I wonder if his penmanship stayed the same or if some of the later tattoos had a totally different look to them?

If everybody knows everybody, and there are only 125 people stationed at the base. Why do they need 16,500 “anonymously available” condoms?

One of the last shipments to a U.S. research base in Antarctica before the onset of winter darkness was a year’s supply of condoms, a New Zealand newspaper reported on Monday.

Bill Henriksen, the manager of the McMurdo base station, said nearly 16,500 condoms were delivered last month and would be made available, free of charge, to staff throughout the year to avoid the potential embarrassment of having to buy them.

The base only has a skeleton staff through the long winter.

16,500 condoms for 125 people. Wow. That allows each person to have sex 132 times over the course of three months. Ninety days. Those stationed at the McMurdo base average more sex than most people in the “real” world.

The question is, can you really find someone you want to have sex with in Antarctica?

Up and down, up and down. How high is oil going to climb on “speculation” before it settles back down to a realistic level?

The Dow briefly turned positive on Monday and the Nasdaq rose more than 1 percent as oil prices reversed an earlier climb, providing investors with some comfort following data that revived concerns about the economy.

Stimulating the economy won’t help, no matter how you try to do it, if people are spending more than the equivalent of that stimulus money on the nearly doubled gas prices.

Oh sure, people pay a lot more than we do overseas, but you know, that is beside the point. The price of gas has risen so quickly here that the cost of gasoline is now eating away at the money many people, myself included, need for other necessities.

Where’s all that Iraqi oil everyone keeps saying we are in the war for? If we “invaded” Iraq to get their oil, why has the cost of oil skyrocketed? Shouldn’t we have plenty of it just laying around waiting to be burnt in our automobiles?
