It sounds good, but when will the administration learn you cannot fix things by adding more rules and regulations?

Drivers will have to pay more for cars and trucks, but they’ll save at the pump under tough new federal rules aimed at boosting mileage, cutting emissions and hastening the next generation of fuel-stingy hybrids and electric cars.

The new standards, announced Thursday, call for a 35.5 miles-per-gallon average within six years, up nearly 10 mpg from now.

Pretty soon there will be set guidelines for taking a dump.

This should be the first of many.

Promising “this is only the beginning,” President Barack Obama announced more than $8 billion in federal loan guarantees Tuesday for the construction of the first nuclear power plant in the United States in nearly three decades.

Obama cast his move as both economically essential and politically attractive as he sought to put more charge into his broad energy agenda. Obama called for comprehensive energy legislation that assigns a cost to the carbon pollution of fossil fuels, giving utility companies more incentive to turn to cleaner nuclear fuel.

It’s amazing how much a President’s tune changes when control begins to shift in Congress.

It’s time to tell our nation’s leaders to do their job, the way they should be doing it.

Wake up people.

We’ve never been in a position like this. American families are now responsible for more federal debt than at any other point in our history, and the market is not happy with President Obama’s economic plans.

The Dow Jones industrial average and the S&P 500 slumped to a 12-year low on Monday on fading confidence that the U.S. government will be able to stabilize the financial system.

All of this while President Obama convened his “fiscal responsibility” summit. I kid you not.

As you know, on Monday, when the House initially rejected the $700 billion bailout, the stock market tanked 777 points. We were told that Congress had to act to “save” the economy.

With the economy on the brink of meltdown and elections looming, a reluctant Congress abruptly reversed course and approved a historic $700 billion government bailout of the battered financial industry on Friday. President Bush swiftly signed it.

Then what happened? The market dropped 157 points for the day. Oh yeah, I should tell you, the market was up almost 300 points when the House vote took place. So, in essence, the market dropped more than 450 points on the news that a bailout deal had been voted on and was to be signed into law.

Great job. We’re paying a high price for socialism, aren’t we?

Congress is discussing a $700 billion ‘bail out’ for Wall Street, but there seems to be quite a few holes in the bucket.

With everything going on the House has a lot on their plate, but no one seems to be doing anything.

John McCain has suspended his campaign to work on the legislative matters dealing with the financial crisis.

We must meet as Americans, not as Democrats or Republicans, and we must meet until this crisis is resolved.I am directing my campaign to work with the Obama campaign and the commission on presidential debates to delay Friday night’s debate until we have taken action to address this crisis.

I am confident that before the markets open on Monday we can achieve consensus on legislation that will stabilize our financial markets, protect taxpayers and homeowners, and earn the confidence of the American people. All we must do to achieve this is temporarily set politics aside, and I am committed to doing so.

And President Bush will address the nation this evening.

The entire month of August has passed without a single Democrat showing up on the floor of the House of Representatives. Over 133 Republicans have shown up, day after day, to discuss our nation’s energy problems and to debate the American Energy Act.

Nancy Pelosi has proven what kind of leader she is by ignoring the American people, closing down the house and embarking on a failed book tour.

Gas prices have been steadily dropping throughout the month, ever since President Bush rescinded the executive order banning offshore drilling. If Congress would begin debate on an all of the above energy solution, the price would continue to fall.

If Mrs. Pelosi does not call Congress back, they are set to resume work on September 8th. The target date for adjournment is September 26th. That’s just 15 working days to finish all of the business for the year including solving our nation’s energy crisis. Fifteen days. until they adjourn for the remainder of the year.

Nancy Pelosi is not working for you. She is not working for me. Hell, it appears she isn’t working at all.

Republicans are standing in front of the microphone everyday asking Nancy Pelosi to call Congress back into session so they can begin debate on the American Energy Act.

A few of these representatives have called on the President to do so, since Mrs. Pelosi has no intention of doing it. The problem is, he cannot do it. The President cannot call Congress back into session if either the House or the Senate are in session.

Harry Reid has made sure that the Senate is kept in “pro forma session” to keep the President from making recess appointments, and ironically, calling Congress back into session to discuss energy solutions.

Today was the 16th day of the House Republican ’staycation’.

With each passing day, it’s abundantly clear that Nancy Pelosi has no intention of calling back Congress. She has no intention of cancelling the remainder of her book tour, even though the number of people who have shown up on the House floor to listen to Republicans discuss the American Energy Act has outnumbered her book sales by a great margin. It’s clear she has no intention of coming back to do the job she was elected to do.

At this point I doubt her decision is purely political in nature, and it’s only a matter of time before she is called to the carpet for her unethical investment in the Clean Energy Fuels Corporation as well as her lack of leadership of the House Of Representatives.

Day #14 of the Republican ’staycation’.

Today, Minority Leader John Boehner returned to the House floor to ask Speaker Pelosi to call the Congress back into session, to begin debating the issue of energy reform.

The American people, Republicans, Democrats, and Independents, are speaking up and talking to their Representatives, demanding that Congress do something to help bring prices down at the pump.

Day #14, and still not a Democrat to be seen in the House. This is not a partisan issue, it’s an American issue. The fact they won’t even acknowledge their own consistuents is shameful.
